Understanding Our digital Kids

"Understanding our Digital Kids," by Adam D. Theirer describes how the digital era will impact us and what should we do. Right now we can see that it is impacting our culture with how easy it is to share private information and it is changing the way we learn. There really is no easy solution. Theirer disagrees that government should impose laws and restriction and tends to favor education. He secondments a book called Born Digital: Understanding the First Generation of Digital Natives, by John Palfrey and Urs Gasser. Palfrey and Gasser describe what the digital era is doing to kids on almost every level. They talk about privacy, the classroom, copyrights, and etc. I agree that being able to learn as much as we can about how we can use media and technology will help us regulate ourselves.

Kids need to understand what they are getting into and we need to be able to know where we should turn to regulate what we are doing. The article didn't really list a simple solution to this problem aside that we can use education.  I think however that it really should be parents and teachers to help us understand how we should use the Internet and other digital applications. I think that should be able to give society a good direction.

Purpose- Why is Adam D. Theirer writing?

He wants his audeince to take a look at how digital technology is shaping our culture and learning

Topic- What is Adam D. Theirer writing about?

What can we do about the next generation growing up in this new "Digital Era."

Issue- All this Digital technology is impacting our learning and culture.

Conclusion- How does he answer this issue?

We need to educate ourselves and rely on teachers and parents to learn how to use the media, internet, and other digital applications.
